Our supporters and patrons have the opportunity to support both CCC's commitment to artistry and excellence as well as Ohio's Veterans through our GoFundMe campaign, currently open and running through September 15th!
Our Choir will present two free concerts. Remembrance: Music of War, Peace and Comfort will take place on September 22 at 7:30 pm at First Congregational Church in Akron and on September 23 at 3:00 pm at the Maltz Performing Arts Center in Cleveland. In Remembrance: Music of War, Peace & Comfort, the resonant voices of the Cleveland Chamber Choir will embrace the depth of emotions with their warm and vibrant singing. Through the ages, composers have responded to the human tragedies of war and conflict with works of deep artistic relevance. Our selections comprise music and poetry inspired directly by wars from the 16th-20th centuries, featuring compositions by Clement Janequin, Heinrich Schütz, Felix Mendelssohn, Rudolf Mauersberger, Aaron Rosenthal, Joel Martinson, Stephen Chatman, Rene Clausen, and Jonathan Quick. Music of peace and comfort, the soothing balms for conflict and tragedy, celebrates with both reverence and joy the conviction that the human race responds with hope and renewal in the face of the unthinkable. CCC presents these free concerts in honor of all service men and women past and present, and in particular honors the memory of Northeast Ohio’s fallen members of the military. To successfully hold this concert, we need $12,500. Generous patrons will match $5,000; we need to raise an additional $7,500. The money will be used to cover the overhead (pay the singers, accompanist, and artistic director; rent the rehearsal and performance spaces; and help create and disseminate publicity) so that we can hold a free concert, open to all, to honor those who have served our country from our region. A special feature of this concert will be that names of those killed in service from Northeast Ohio will be read during the performance of Brock McElheran’s stunning work, “Funeral March on the Deaths of Heroes.” We will invite members of Ohio’s Veterans groups to the concert, and honor them specially at the concert.
