In continuation of our mission of community support, a portion of any donation given to CCC between now and January 1, 2021 will be shared with the Cleveland Food Bank.  1 in 6 people in Northeast Ohio already struggled to put food on the table, and the need has only increased in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the Cleveland Chamber Choir sang We March On! Music of Social Justice in March 2020, we had no idea that the world was about to change. For a time, we didn’t even know how to sing safely in person, so the only work we did was virtual. At the end of this past summer, several preliminary studies by a coalition of 125 arts organizations detailed best practices for choral rehearsal and performance. These include self-reporting on potential symptoms, everyone wearing “singers’ masks”, using smaller ensembles than normal, singing at a distance from each other, and frequent air exchange.

As we prepared for our November concert, we tried this approach by following all safety protocols and using a 6,000 square foot space for our first weekend of rehearsals. With the safety of our audience and supporters in mind, we made the additional decision that this concert would be recorded and released as a video concert. In our desire to create music together, we did not sacrifice safety.

Unfortunately, the alarming resurgence of COVID-19 has made our plan impossible, and we have made the decision to return to a virtual concert format where our individual recordings are mixed together to create a virtual choir. In this way, we can offer you music that is safe, for both you and us. The global pandemic has changed our world. But music – like the human spirit – is resilient. And the Cleveland Chamber Choir will find a way to safely sing for you, now and far into the future.
